natural & man-made wonders, all within an action-packed 14-
night itinerary.
There is so much to see and experience on this epic journey; the
Golden Triangle includes coastal, desert and mountain roads,
along with time to explore three of America’s very best cities –
San Francisco, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. In summary, The
Golden Triangle road trip offers one life-changing experience after
another; it’s no wonder this is our best-selling road trip.Key road trip highlights:
• At least two full days visiting Los Angeles, San Francisco,
Tucson and Las Vegas.
• Drive through stunning California and Nevada scenery
throughout the road trip, including California’s three most
celebrated roads – The Pacific Coast Highway, US-395 and CA-
190, which passes through Death Valley.
• Visit three outstanding National Parks – Yosemite, Death Valley
and Grand Canyon
• Monument Valley, Indian Wells, Tucson and San Diego
Day 1/2
The first days in Los Angeles
Stopping at The Biltmore **** for 2 nights.
Los Angeles. Synonymous with the glitz and glamour ofHollywood, this town also contains funky beach towns like Santa
Monica and Venice Beach. Spend the afternoon and evening by
the Ocean, hire a bike in Santa Monica and cruise along the
boardwalk to neighboring Venice Beach and back. Watch the
sunset while grabbing dinner on Santa Monica Pier before
shopping till late on Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade.
Beverly hills and Hollywood awaits .
Head up the legendary Sunset Blvd to Beverly Hills, where you
can shop with the Stars on Rodeo Drive and marvel at the area’s
mansions. Further along Sunset Blvd lies Hollywood – stroll along
the Hollywood Walk of Fame or hike up to the iconic Hollywood
sign. Universal and Disney have world-famous theme parks in the
city dedicated to the entertainment industry. For a more authentic
behind-the-scenes experience, both Warner Bros and Paramount
offer guided tours of their lots.
Day 3
Time to start your golden triangle road trip.
The Golden Triangle is packed with great drives, and only time
will tell which will be your favourite. Today, you’ll drive Big Sur,which many believe to be the best drive on the planet. Big Sur is
100 miles of dramatic coastal road, which twists around curvy
cliffs, passing by scenic State Parks and spectacular vista pull-
ins. The last 135 miles pass through vast farms and pretty mid-
coast vineyards before returning to the Pacific Coast. Get an early
start, and you’ll have plenty of time to explore. First up is surf-
obsessed Santa Cruz and its famous Boardwalk.Further down Highway 1 lies Monterey, once famous for its
whaling and sardine industry. Today, it focuses on marine
preservation at the world-class Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Monterey is also world-famous for its Whale Watching cruises.
Complete the day with a short drive along “17-Mile Drive” to your
hotel in Carmel-by-the-Sea. This scenic toll road takes you on a
quick tour past rugged beaches, millionaire homes and wind-
blown cypress trees. Watch Seals bask in the sun and Sea Otters
bob up and down in the waves.
Stopping the Night at Colton Inn **
Day 4/5
We set of to San Francisco, California
After the morning fog lifts, one of the USA’s favourite cities will be
revealed. Ride the iconic cable cars from one visitor attraction to
the next; highlights include Coit Tower, Lombard Street and
shopping in Union Square. Packed with Victorian charm and
famous movie locations.
After a full day of exploring San Fran, consider finishing the day
with dinner in Chinatown, one of the oldest in the USA.
Explore the Fisherman's Wharf area for the day.
Fisherman’s Wharf, The Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island
can all be enjoyed in a single day. Start the day by hiring a bike or
tandem from Blazing Saddles, and then follow the bike path over
the Golden Gate Bridge to the delightful small town of Sausalito.
After returning your wheels, stroll through Fisherman’s Wharf andenjoy a well-earned meal in one of The Wharf’s many restaurants.
To complete this epic day, we recommend taking a late afternoon
or early evening ferry to Alcatraz Island.
Day 6
We head east to Mammoth Lakes via Yosemite.
Arguably the USA's best national park - hello Yosemite!
Yosemite National Park is nature at its absolute best. The most
popular area of this epic National Park is the main “Valley” area
with its gigantic rock faces, crystal clear waters and staggering
vista points. Be sure to leave enough time to marvel at the giant
redwood trees in Mariposa Grove .No matter the season, Mammoth Lakes makes a perfect base
camp for exploring local hot springs. Some 760,000 years ago, a
massive volcano exploded in this region, creating a network of
steaming water underground. Head east to Benton Hot Springs to
relax in any of nine outdoor hot tubs at The Inn at Benton Hot
Springs.
Day 7/8
We make our way to Death Valley and onto Los Vegas.
Death Valley has an extreme climate and geology, so start early
or late to avoid the mid-day heat. This National Park’s roads are
superb, dipping and leaning around curves before straightening
out as you dip down to 85m below sea level in the salt flats of
Badwater.
You’ll then climb to finish your drive by the snow-capped
mountains of the Sierra Nevada. It’s one of the longer drives on
this Golden Triangle tour, but it’s a drive you’ll never forget as the
landscape is so very different from back home.
After checking in to your glamorous Las Vegas hotel, get dressed
up and hit the town’s tables, bars and restaurants – time to paint
the town red.
A second day of luxury and fun in Las Vegas
If your head hurts after the night before, then relax by the pool or
enjoy the hotel’s spa. In the evening, stretch your legs with a walk
along the legendary ‘Strip’, book tickets to one of the incredible
shows or take in some retail therapy. Before leaving Las Vegas,
consider visiting one of the city’s legendary hotel buffets. Just be
sure you’re hungry when you go; the vast range and high food
quality will astound you.
Day 9
We make our way to the Hoover Dam and then onto our Rest
hole at The Grand Canyon.
Hoover Dam is a concrete arch-gravity dam in the Black Canyonof the Colorado River, on the border between the U.S. states of
Nevada and Arizona. Constructed between 1931 and 1936,
during the Great Depression, You will have around 1 hours here
then onto the Grand Canyon.
Imagine the Grand Canyon with no people. Just the psychedelic-
colored canyon walls, the wind, and the river silent at the bottom
of the gorge. That’s how it must have looked to the Native
Americans who lived in and around the Grand Canyon 12,000
years ago, and to the Spanish explorers who laid eyes on the rift
in the 16th century.
Fast forward to today, when more than six million people a year
visit The Grand Canyon to experience its visitor centers, mule
trips, train tour, helicopter rides, and more.
Day 10
Monument Valley and down to Indian WellsMonument Valley, a red-sand desert region on the Arizona-Utah
border, is known for the towering sandstone buttes of Monument
Valley Navajo Tribal Park. The park, frequently a filming location
for Western movies, is accessed by the looping, 17-mile Valley
Drive. The famous, steeply sloped Mittens buttes can be viewed
from the road or from overlooks such as John Ford’s Point.
Indian Wells
The city derived its name from a historic Cahuilla Native American
water reservoir, which served as a crucial water supply for nearby
tribes. As early as 1820, the area now known as Indian Wells was
the site of a thriving Indian village, as reported by W.P. Blade, a
Smithsonian Institution geologist.
Day 11/12
We make our way to Tucson where we will be stopping for 2
nights.Nestled in the Sonoran Desert of Southern Arizona, Tucson is the
second-largest city in the state, known for its stunning natural
beauty, rich Native- and Mexican American heritage, and bustling
downtown area.
The Pima Air & Space Museum is one of the largest non-
government-funded aviation museums in the world, making it an
ideal destination for aviation enthusiasts and history buffs alike. It
features approximately 400 aircraft and spacecraft from various
eras, including a Wright Flyer, World War II fighters, and
commercial airliners such as the 787 Dreamliner.
The museum spans 80 acres and includes not only vast outdoor
hangars but also six indoor exhibits that display an array of
aviation and space-related artifacts, models, and interactive
displays for visitors to explore.
Kitt Peak National Observatory.
Located about an hour outside of Tucson, in the Quinlan
Mountains, Kitt Peak National Observatory offers a chance to see
the night sky like never before. This world-renowned astronomical
observatory features the largest and most diverse astronomical
equipment in the world.Visitors can visit during the day or at night and participate in
different tours or events depending on their level of interest. You
can learn about the history of the observatory, and the invention
of the telescope, take a guided tour of the observatory, or attend
stargazing or moon observation sessions.
The Mission San Xavier del Bac is a stunning 18th-century church
located nine miles south of Tucson on the Tohono O’odham San
Xavier Indian Reservation. This Catholic mission, designated a
National Historic Landmark, has a rich history dating back to the
late 1700s and is considered one of the finest examples of
Spanish colonial architecture in the United States.
Visitors can step back in time and enjoy the tranquillity of the
interior, which is filled with original statues, murals, and carvings
from the 18th century.
So loads to see and do you decide.
Day 13
We make our way to San DiegoSan Diego is a city on the Pacific coast of California known for its
beaches, parks and warm climate. Immense Balboa Park is the
site of the renowned San Diego Zoo, as well as numerous art
galleries, artist studios, museums and gardens. A deep harbor is
home to a large active naval fleet, with the USS Midway, an
aircraft-carrier-turned-museum, open to the public.
Day 14
We make our way back to Los Angeles staying in Beverly Hills
time to relax and do as little or as much as you want.
Day 15
We head back to the Airport hand our cars back and head back to
the UK.

Cologne Christmas Markets

£1,849.00

Why not join us on our weekend to
Cologne and the Christmas Markets.
We have done Brugge and Lille over the last two years so this year we are aiming to top those two with Cologne.
This is what they say!!
After years of hearing that Cologne was home to the best Christmas markets in Europe, I decided I needed to experience it first-hand and finally check it off my bucket list. I already had plans to be in Frankfurt for the Christmas markets this year, so adding Cologne to the trip was seamless. And now that I’ve been, I can’t believe it took me so long to visit. The markets are incredible, and completely live up to the hype.

The Cologne Christmas market tradition began around 1820. Today, it features multiple major locations across the city, drawing roughly five million annual visitors to the famous Cologne Cathedral Market (Weihnachtsmarkt am Kölner Dom) alone.

COLOGNE CHRISTMAS MARKETS
COLOGNE CATHEDRAL CHRISTMAS MARKET

The grand Weihnachtsmarkt am Kolner Dom (Cologne Cathedral Christmas Market) is the main market in town. It sits in front of the Cologne Cathedral, a truly epic backdrop

Cologne Cathedral Christmas Market Hours: 11 AM-9 PM (Sunday to Wednesday), 11 AM-10 PM (Thursday and Friday) and 10 AM-10 PM (Saturday)
Verdict on the Cologne Cathedral Christmas Market: This is the grand market of Cologne, and while it’s certainly epic with the cathedral backdrop, I prefer Heinzel’s Winter Fairytale. That said the Cologne Cathedral Christmas Market is still a must while in town. It’s prettiest in the evenings, but this is also when it’s busiest.

COLOGNE HARBOR CHRISTMAS MARKET
This maritime-themed Christmas market is on the smaller side, located along the Rhine in Cologne. There are more than 70 white stalls that sell festive handmade goods, mulled wine, grilled salmon and more. The mulled wine is served from the hull of a large wooden ship.

Cologne Harbor Christmas Market Hours: 11 AM-9 PM (Sunday to Thursday) and 11 AM-10 PM (Friday and Saturday)
Cologne Harbor Christmas Market Verdict: A nice stop if you are by the water, but not a must-visit. The market is small, and feels more like festival stalls than a Christmas market village.
HEINZELS WINTER FAIRYTALE

This might be my favorite Christmas market in all of Europe. Heinzels Wintermaerchen (Heinzels Winter Fairytale) is charming, detailed and elaborate, resembling a medieval village from a children’s storybook. Look for little gnomes that are sprinkled throughout the decor. The market spans two large squares (the Alert Markt and Heumarkt), and literally has it all – handmade crafts, antiques, local cuisine, sweet treats, built-out bars, a variety of mulled wine served in 12 different gnome themed mugs, ice skating, curling, a carousels and carolers and performers.

Heinzels Winter Fairytale Verdict: This sprawling holiday village is bursting with heart, charm and character. An absolute must-visit.
Heinzels Winter Fairytale Hours: 11 AM-10 PM (daily), 11 AM-9 PM (December 26) and closed December 24 and 25

MARKET OF ANGELS
The ethereal Markt der Engel (Market of the Angels) is a beautiful market located in Neumarkt Square. The market’s long lanes are lined with white wooden huts illuminated at night by thousands of twinkling lights and glowing paper stars. This market is home to high-end handmade goods, Cologne cathedral waffles, flame-grilled salmon, cocktails, pasta, churros, crepes and more.

Market of Angels Hours: 11 AM-9 PM (Sunday to Thursday) and 11 AM-10 PM (Friday and Saturday)
Verdict on the Market of Angels: Loved it. The market is nothing over-the-top, but it’s completely lovely, especially in the evening when the huts are lit by thousands of lights. I also found my favorite Christmas market mug here.

STADTGARTEN CHRISTMAS MARKET
This Christmas market is one of the more local markets in Cologne. It’s held under the trees in Cologne’s oldest park and gives the vibe of an enchanted forest. There are more than 60 stall vendors that change weekly selling crafts, jewelry, fashion and handmade goods. There is also mulled wine, raclette and live entertainment.

Stadtgarten Christmas Market Hours: 4 PM-9:30 PM (Monday to Friday) and 12 PM-9:30 PM (Saturday and Sunday)
Verdict on the Stadtgarten Christmas Market: A small, pleasant market to visit, but definitely not a must if you are tight on time in Cologne.
ST. NICHOLAS VILLAGE

This St. Nicholas themed Christmas market leaves visitors smitten, set against the epic medieval Hahnentorburg Gate. Nikolausdorf (St. Nicholas Village) resembles a rustic village where timbered huts sell bratwurst, pretzels, potato pancakes, hot chocolate, eggnog and mulled wine. Additionally, children can meet St. Nicholas at his home that is located inside the market.

4 nights in top end 4 star hotels bed and breakfast.
£1849 per couple .

Where better to get into the seasonal spirit than in Europe’s biggest Christmas Markets. Cologne really comes into its own at Christmas time?

Day 1 we meet at Eurotunnel for 12.20 and travel across to our hotel in Ghent with is around 1.5 hour from Calais .

Day 2 we set off to Cologne around a 3 hour run arriving in the old town around 2pm. Time to get settled and start exploring !!

Day 3/4 time to venture around the Markets . I believe there are 4 different Markets to visit and time to visit the key attraction of Cologne and even do a trip on the Rhine.

Book your trip to the Cologne Christmas markets with LeShuttle – it’s just a 35-minute crossing from Folkestone to Calais.
